Bakeries are a great place to visit if you're looking for delicious pastries or baked goods. While you could easily swing by a grocery store for some delightful treats, there's something about freshly-baked, hand-crafted goods that are worth the purchase. Plus, you could be exposed to unique creations and exciting flavors you won't find anywhere else in the country. These establishments may also sell sandwiches, coffee, tea, confections, and other tasty offerings.

That's why Taste of Home updated its list of every state's best bakery. The roundup includes family-owned joints, cake shops, delis, specialty markets, historic businesses, and much more.

According to the website, Colorado's top bakery is Wimberger's Old World Bakery & Delicatessen! Here's why this historic spot was selected:

"Wimberger’s Bakery has been a fixture in Colorado Springs since 1970. It was founded by Robert and Gisela Wimberger who longed for the traditional breads of their native Germany, and it’s still family-run today. Baked daily are rye breads, seeded breads, pretzels, Kaiser rolls and pastries. Try this old-world rye bread recipe at home."

You can find Wimberger's at 2321 Bott Ave. in Colorado Springs.
